Vouchers

The Housing Choice Voucher Program, administered by the District of Columbia Housing Authority (DCHA), is a cornerstone of our commitment to providing quality, affordable housing options to residents of Washington, D.C. This program empowers eligible families, seniors, and individuals with disabilities to choose their own safe, suitable, and affordable housing in a community that best meets their needs. Through the Housing Choice Voucher Program, participants receive a voucher that allows them to find housing—be it an apartment, townhouse, or single-family home—that meets DCHA’s standards of health and safety. Instead of being limited to subsidized housing units, participants can use their voucher to rent in the private market, offering them greater flexibility and choice in where they live.
