D.C. HOUSING AUTHORITY TO OPEN NEW OFFICE IN CITY’S CHINATOWN NEIGHBORHOOD
New office key step in improving customer service experience

The Washington D.C. Housing Authority is establishing a downtown presence with a new office in the centrally located Chinatown section of the District, bringing additional foot traffic to the neighborhood and affording customers the opportunity to have direct interaction with DCHA staff.

On April 1, DCHA’s Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCVP) and the Office of Customer Engagement’s Call Center will begin operating from 702 H Street Northwest. The new office represents the fourth DCHA location to offer in-person support to the agency’s customers.

“Providing direct, effective and compassionate service to the District’s families that we serve is fundamental to the mission of the D.C. Housing Authority. This new office enables DCHA to offer our customers another convenient location to engage directly with staff and allows for improved oversight of the HCV Program,” said DCHA Executive Director Keith Pettigrew. “And I’m confident that DCHA’s new office, and the activity it brings, will contribute to the ongoing revival of the iconic Chinatown neighborhood.”

More than 150 DCHA employees will occupy approximately 25,500 square feet across the building’s 2nd and 3rd floors. Some staff are relocating from DCHA’s headquarters at 300 7th Street Southwest, while others are returning to the office following an update to DCHA’s telework policy.

Customers will continue to schedule appointments through DCHA’s online booking system, which offers dates, times and locations based on the customer’s inquiry and staff availability. Appointments that had been previously scheduled for dates in April will take place at their confirmed location (625 D Street SW; 2000 Alabama Avenue SE; 702 H Street NW; or virtually). In-person appointments at the Chinatown office begin on Monday, April 8.

DCHA will continue to serve customers with appointments at our two existing Customer Service Centers, located at 625 D Street Southwest in the agency’s headquarters and at 2000 Alabama Avenue Southeast in the Frederick Douglass Community Center, and meet with public housing customers regarding eligibility and recertification matters at 203 N Street Southwest in our EnVision Center on Wednesdays and Thursdays, by appointment only.
