Security Deposit Assistance Now Available for Voucher Participants

District of Columbia Housing Authority

The DC Housing Authority (DCHA) provides Security Deposit Assistance, as funding is available, to participants in the federal and local voucher programs.

Beginning on Aug. 7, 2026, DCHA lifted the suspension and resumed the Security Deposit Assistance program. The program will remain open until all funds are exhausted.

Voucher participants and their prospective landlords must meet certain eligibility criteria to receive this assistance, and voucher participants must request the Security Deposit Assistance form from their DCHA Housing Specialist.

DCHA will only begin processing Security Deposit Assistance applications after notifying the voucher participant and prospective landlord that the unit has been approved for tenancy.
