Board of Commissioners
Board of Commissioners
The Council of the District of Columbia passed legislation sunsetting the temporary, Stabilization and Reform Board of Commissioners for the agency and established the District of Columbia Housing Authority Board of Commissioners (“Board of Commissioners”). The Board of Commissioners consists of nine (9) members, seven (7) of which are appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Council, and two members that are residents of public housing and elected by residents of housing properties.
This Board of Commissioners positions are purposefully designated to represent specific, proven professional expertise in fields like housing policy, finance, affordable housing development, advocacy and operations as well as retaining vital representation for public housing and voucher-program residents and participants.
The diversity in representation and expertise will engender a balanced approach to preservation and creation of affordable housing, developing and updating policies to reflect the values of the agency in fostering sustainable communities and cultivating opportunities for residents to improve their lives.
