SERVING OUR VETERANS

DCHA, in partnership with DC Office of Veterans Affairs, US Vets, DC Habitat for Humanity, and other service providers hosted an Employment, Education and Housing Initiative designed to help veterans participating in the Veteran Affairs Supportive Housing (VASH) program find the services they need to enhance their quality of life. Partners were on hand to provide information and assistance with job training, homeowership, and even financial planning services. The event, held the Friday before Memorial Day, was attended by more than 350 veterans, featured a color guard and give-a-ways including a flat screen TV and tickets to Washington Nationals games. Mayor Vincent Gray was also on hand to offer remarks.

In addition to the group activities, many veterans took advantage of the one-on-one opportunities offered that day and were able to leave the event with issues resolved.
