Jose Arnaldo Ortiz Gaud is an entrepreneur, philanthropist, and community activist. He has used his decades of experience in commercial construction to advance the cause of workforce development and empowerment in underserved communities.
In 2014, Ortiz Gaud founded Run Hope Work, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) workforce development program serving the D.C. community. Run Hope Work provides a pathway from homelessness through mental and physical development and job training. To date, the program has successfully graduated dozens of
participants who are making a positive impact on their communities.
In 2017, Hurricane Maria devastated Ortiz Gaud’s birthplace of Puerto Rico. In response, he founded Puerto Rico One and mobilized massive efforts to get resources to the island. Within weeks, Ortiz Gaud led efforts to deliver over 100 pallets of supplies, several large generators, and multiple privately
chartered planes filled with much needed medicine and medical supplies.
Ortiz Gaud’s most recent endeavors include a large-scale electrostatic systems technology company, A|L.E.S.T., created to help combat COVID-19 by disinfecting large spaces. He continues his service at the D.C. Housing Authority with a passion for economic and diversity inclusion. These values are the cornerstone of all his work.
