Hopkins Residents Celebrate Community and Fun at DCHA Block Party

Residents of Hopkins Apartments came together on October 11 for the DC Housing Authority’s (DCHA) latest Rebuilding Our Communities Block Party. Residents enjoyed good food, live music, games, and so much more.

Local community members, neighbors, friends, and DCHA staff joined the festivities.

Prior to the event, DCHA staff and volunteers distributed free groceries and household supplies to Hopkins Apartments residents. The party featured a DJ and live band, free food, and lots of youth activities including a moon bounce, a video game truck and a balloon release.

DCHA’s block parties will continue through the end of October. This event was part of the Rebuilding Our Communities initiative, which aims to build community while also offering opportunities to access useful resources.

Service providers offered resources to residents related to education, workforce development, job opportunities, healthcare, and more. Participating organizations included local nonprofits, academic institutions, private employers, and DC government agencies that are dedicated to uplifting residents of the District.

DCHA is grateful for the service providers who helped make this event possible:

First Fruit | The Linner Foundation | DC College Savings Plan | The Love More Movement | 211 Warmline | Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement | United Healthcare | Aquila Recovery | Little Lights | DCHA Office of Resident Services | Community of Hope
