Fatherhood Initiative Cheer on Washington Wizards at Latest Event

The dads of DC Housing Authority’s Fatherhood Initiative — along with their children — cheered on the Washington Wizards in style at the Capital One Arena on April 2. They received VIP treatment in an arena suite as they watched the DC team beat the Sacramento Kings with a score of 116-111.

Launched in 2024, the Fatherhood Initiative was created to provide a safe space for dads to connect, develop critical life skills, and empower themselves. The programming focuses on five key areas: mentorship; financial literacy; life skills and leadership; and education and employment.

Every month, the group comes together for an inspiring workshop or a community-building activity. The workshops focus on one of the five key areas and the community bonding events range from attending sporting events to community service projects.

Mr. Rashad Lee, a dedicated Fatherhood Initiative member, and his son also received two tickets to attend the final Wizards home game of the season on April 9. Ahead of the April 9 game, Mr. Lee also participated in a panel discussion, dubbed Dear Fathers Night, which tackled topics such as fatherhood, legacy, and mental health.
