The DC Housing Authority (DCHA) is committed to preserving affordable housing through the redevelopment, renovation, rehabilitation and modernization of our portfolio.
To support our strategic goal of preserving and expanding the affordable housing supply in the District of Columbia, DCHA may reposition public housing operating subsidies; secure partnerships or private funds; or acquire parcels of land or multifamily properties within DC.
The repositioning of public housing is a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) process that supports the preservation of affordable housing by providing more stable funding to make needed improvements to properties.
HUD has several paths for repositioning. DCHA is currently utilizing:
