DCHA Offices to Close January 9

January 7, 2025 1:19 AM

The DC Housing Authority offices — including the Customer Service Centers — will be closed on Thursday, Jan. 9, the National Day of Mourning for President James Earl Carter, Jr.

On Friday, Jan. 10, walk-in visits and appointments will resume at our Customer Service Centers. Housing Choice Voucher Program families and landlords are encouraged to make an appointment with their assigned Housing Specialist.

The closures do not impact DCHA Office of Public Safety’s uniformed personnel, who will report to their posts as scheduled. Additionally, DCHA Property Management Operations staff will be available to address emergencies; Public Housing residents are encouraged to contact their Property Manager or Housing Management Assistant with any questions.

This announcement follows President Biden’s Executive Order to close federal agencies and offices on Jan. 9, when the state funeral for former President Carter will take place at the Washington National Cathedral. The state funeral is part of days-long memorial in Washington, D.C. that involves street closures and adjustments to the Metrorail and Metrobus schedules.
