DCHA Hosts Annual Thanksgiving Luncheon for Senior Residents

On Nov. 24, the DC Housing Authority hosted its 13th Annual Thanksgiving Luncheon at the UDC Student Center, where more than 375 DCHA seniors gathered to dine, dance and celebrate the holiday season together.

DCHA Executive Director Keith Pettigrew joined the festivities, along with DCHA staff and members of DCHA’s Fatherhood Initiative.

Tables were decorated with yellow-gold runners, vases full of fall flowers, and electric candles. Attendees enjoyed Caribbean and soul food dishes, as well as classic Thanksgiving dishes.

Away from the dining area, a photobooth was set up to take pictures against a backdrop of green leaves. After the meal, residents mingled and danced to live music by the Steele4Real Band and DJ Frank White.

Service providers tabled at the event and shared information on local resources for seniors and families.

The day gave everyone a chance to celebrate as a community and build relationships that extend beyond the holiday season. The luncheon is part of DCHA’s commitment to support and honor its senior residents.
