Beware of Housing Voucher Scam on Social Media

The DC Housing Authority (DCHA) is warning District residents about an online scam in which social media accounts are claiming to administer DCHA voucher programs in exchange for a fee.

DCHA and other legitimate housing authorities do NOT charge fees to receive a housing voucher or be pulled from a waitlist. In addition, under the DC Human Rights Act, landlords cannot charge any additional fees, deposits, or rent to voucher-subsidized individuals/families that would not be charged to unsubsidized renters.

If you have encountered this, do not send payment or share personal information. Please report the activity immediately:

Remember: Legitimate voucher programs do not require upfront fees.
