Homeownership

The District of Columbia Housing Authority (DCHA) has embarked on several homeownership initiatives – Scattered Sites, HOPE VI, and Housing Choice Voucher Program (formerly Section 8) that offer homeownership opportunities for DCHA residents, as well as other low and moderate income families in the District of Columbia.

Through DCHA’s partnerships with local non-profit community development corporations, the District of Columbia, and private developers, DCHA has produced new housing for people of all incomes, therefore protecting affordable housing in the District of Columbia and preventing displacement.

Current DCHA HOPE VI redevelopment projects that offer affordable homeownership opportunities are: Henson Ridge, New East Capitol, and Arthur Capper/Carrollsburg. Current DCHA partnership redevelopment projects are: Scattered Sites, Kentucky Courts, Frontiers, and Dupont Commons.

To learn more about the DCHA homeownership opportunities, call the Office of Planning and Development at (202) 535-1445.
