As one of the most active developers in the District of Columbia, D.C. Housing Authority (DCHA) is a critical force in building new sustainable communities and redeveloping many of the capital’s most distressed neighborhoods.

In addition to the flourishing HOPE VI program, DCHA is leading a number of other critical development projects that include large-scale rehabilitation of older rental properties, revitalization of units for home ownership opportunities, as well as the development of new properties through unique land exchanges with non-profit organizations.

Today DCHA is actively involved in nearly $2 billion of redevelopment through a variety of creative strategies, and by forming alliances with many different financial resources, and local non-profit and for-profit organizations. Together they are producing mixed income, quality housing projects that offer both rental home ownership opportunities to families, the elderly and people with disabilities, and that and incorporate programs for economic self-sufficiency and community development.
