Girls who want to learn more about computers and technology are invited to participate in a Robotics Workshop.

The District of Columbia Housing Authority is now registering girls, ages 11 through 16, from both the voucher and public housing programs for their dcConnectGirls’ Robotics Workshop that will be held on Saturday, October 20 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Southwest Family Enhancement and Career Center, located at 203 N Street, S.W.

The girls will learn how to build and program a robot, participate in drone flying contests, and learn about careers in technology.

dcConnectGirls is a program designed to provide an ongoing technology experience that exposes girls to everything from creating web-sites to programming apps, while providing opportunities to explore futures in technology. As part of the local dcConnectHome initiative, DCHA partnered with NCWIT AspireIT and SheSoft, women-owned organizations that work to bridge gender gaps in technology, to create the program.

Space is limited. Registration ends on Wednesday, October 17. To register or for more information contact DCHA’s Office of Planning at 202-435-3382.
