All residents living in District of Columbia Housing Authority communities are invited to a DCHA Board of Commissioners Resident Commissioner Candidate Forum.

The forum, which will be held on Friday, September 7 at 6 p.m. in the community room at Sibley Plaza, located at 1140 North Capitol Street, N.W., will provide residents with the opportunity to meet candidates and learn about their campaigns.

Three resident commissioners are elected to serve on DCHA’s Board of Commissioners. This year, the elections are being held on September 10 and 11.

The forum will provide an opportunity for candidates to introduce themselves to their potential constituency, explain why they are running, and any particular issues they want to focus on if they are elected. Each candidate will give an opening statement followed by a question and answer session from the residents in attendance. Once all questions have been answered, each candidate will give a closing statement.

All residents are invited to engage with candidates about important issues at this event. Residents may ask the candidates questions by raising their hands and the facilitator will call on them one at a time.

Candidates for Family Property representation are Aquarius Vann Ghasri of Potomac Gardens, Erika King of Park Morton, and Annie Peake of Garfield Terrace.

Candidates for Senior Property representation are Frank Lancaster of Harvard Towers, Saul Edmonds of Colorado Apartments, and Antonio Taliaferro of Sibley Plaza.

There is one candidate for the At-Large seat and that is Kenneth Council of Fort Dupont.
