Children rode ponies, enjoyed snow cones, and received fully stuffed book bags at a recent Back to School Event at Greenleaf Extensions.
The Greenleaf Extensions Resident Council hosted the event full of food, fun, and music. There also were free haircuts, a moon bounce, and a books available from the D.C. Library. The D.C. Fire Department’s public information team was on hand for a truck touch for the kids. Residents enjoyed fried fish, hamburgers, hot dogs, and popcorn. Then they participated in a dance contest..
Many thanks to the U.S. Coast Guard Chaplain Jonathan Alexander and his staff for donating the book bags. Also the community thanks its community partners, District of Columbia Housing Authority staff, and resident council for their contributions, especially Andrenia Walker, president of Greenleaf Resident Council, the Greenleaf Executive Board, Property Manager Rhonda Harvell,  and DCHA’s Steve Firth, Foreman Ronnell Gorham,  and Community Navigator Ron Friday.
