The District of Columbia Housing Authority has some 15,500 children as part of its customer base that could benefit from summer camp.

The 2018 summer camp registration for D.C.’s Department of Parks and Recreation will begin on Monday, February 5, 2018. It will be a rolling registration with a limited number of programs being available each day over a one-week period. Following the rolling registration period, DPR summer camps will remain open until each program is full or the first day of the summer camp session.

DPR’s 2018 summer camp season runs from June 18 through August 17, 2018. Most camps are offered between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. each day, but hours vary by program. For the past 30 years, DPR has been providing a wide variety of summer camp experiences for youth ages 3 through 17. On average, more than 5,000 children participate in DPR’s camps each summer, the agency reported.

2018 Summer Camp Dates:

Session 1: June 18 – 29, 2018

Session 2: July 2 – 13, 2018 (Holiday Observed July 4; No Camp)

Session 3: July 16 – 27, 2018

Session 4: July 30 – August 10, 2018

Session 5: August 13 – 17, 2018


DPR’s rolling registration begins Monday, February 5, 2018 and ends Friday, February 9, 2018 and will open each day at 12 p.m. for D.C. residents only. DPR has a new registration system and old accounts may not work. To create a new account, click here: NEW ACCOUNT.

Monday, February 5:  Discovery Camp (ages 6-10)

Tuesday, February 6:  Little Explorers Camp (ages 3-5)

Wednesday, February 7:  REC Camp (ages 6-13); Jelleff Summer Camp (ages 6-12)

Thursday, February 8:  Sports Camps (ages 5-13); Aqua Day Camp (ages 6-13)

Friday, February 9: Enrichment Camp (ages 3-12); Specialty Camps (ages 4-13)

(In the event of inclement weather and D.C. government is closed, the rolling registration schedule will shift accordingly. In that event, please check DPR’s web site for updates.)


Before and After Care is offered at an additional charge. Before and After Care registration will open on Monday, March 5, 2018 at 10 a.m. and will not be included in the rolling registration period.
