Teens and children at Barry Farm, Woodland Terrace, Potomac Gardens, and Greenleaf Extensions and Mid-Rise will enjoy a little more holiday cheer this year thanks  to the U.S. Coast Guard.

Members of the U.S. Coast Guard, headquartered on the St. Elizabeths Campus, collected gifts for more than 200 gift bags full of gift cards, electronics, and more this year as part of their 2017 Holiday Adopt a Team Gift Drive.

“We intentionally targeted teens because often they get overlooked during holiday drives,” said U.S. Coast Guard Chaplain Jonathan Alexander. “This is a great opportunity for the Coast Guard to serve the community.”

There was a handful of volunteers distributing gifts on December 14 at Barry Farm. The Barry Farm management office and POAH provided refreshments.

The rest of the gifts will be distributed in the other communities throughout the next week.
