The District of Columbia Housing Authority is looking for landlords who have available units for an upcoming event to house veterans.

DCHA’s Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCVP), D.C.’s Department of Human Services, and the Veterans NOW initiative will host a Meet & Lease for veterans on Thursday, August 27. Veterans NOW is a local organization working to meet President Barack Obama’s goal of housing all homeless veterans by the end of 2015.

DCHA will expedite pre-inspections and contract rent approvals for more than 100 units to prepare for the event. Homeless veterans with vouchers will be able to attend the event and quickly find a suitable unit.

One-, two-, and three-bedroom units are needed. DCHA will conduct the pre-inspection for free. Once the unit is approved, case managers will contact the landlord for viewings. Dedicated case management service staffs are provided to handle any issues once the unit is rented.

If the unit is not approved by August 27, it will be made available for all voucher clients once it is approved.

If you are an interested landlord, contact Vanessa Austin at vanessa.austin@dc.gov or 202-299-2157.

To prepare for the inspection, review the checklist available online here.
