The DCHA Office of the General Counsel is seeking motivated and interested fellowship students with excellent research and writing skills to intern with the Office of the General Counsel. The Office of the General Counsel handles all legal matters for DCHA. Specifically, the Office of the General Counsel handles all litigation and transactional matters for DCHA.

Fellows with an interest in litigation will have an opportunity to assist the attorneys in affirmative and defensive litigation matters before the Office of Fair Hearings, D.C. Superior Court and U.S. District Court, and other District tribunals. The Fellows will work with litigation team to draft advisory memorandums, final decisions, settlement agreements, motions, pleadings, position statements and participate in discovery. They will also have the opportunity to attend trials, depositions and hearings with attorneys. Fellows interested in transactional work will have an opportunity to work with the transactional team in drafting agreements, closing documents, request for proposals, contracts, memorandum of understanding, and invitations for bids and response to bid protests. Additionally, Fellows with this interest area will have the opportunity to attend meetings, work with clients on transactions, and participate in deal negotiations.

DCHA has had a very successful fellowship program. Over the last two years, both Fellows have found full-time positions in their field of choice. Fellows with interest in either litigation or transactional work are encouraged to note their interest so that they may be paired with Attorneys who specialize in these areas. The Fellow will be required to work forty hours per week during the fellowship year.
