DCHA Executive Director Adrianne Todman served as a panelist for the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s issues forum, “The Homelessness Experiences of African American Veterans,” during the group’s 41st Annual National Conference on September 22.

Ms. Todman described the trailblazing work DCHA is doing in partnership with the local VA to house homeless veterans. DCHA’s program was recognized as the national model for running a multi-agency partnership for optimal success in serving veterans and their families. The HUD-Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) program combines Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) rental assistance for homeless veterans with case management and clinical services provided by the Department of Veteran's Affairs (VA). DCHA has received 565 VASH vouchers from HUD since 2008 and developed a successful local partnership with the District’s Department of Human Services for case management in cooperation with the District VA hospital.
