Monday, June 17, 2013 was the 43rd birthday for Regional Addiction Prevention (RAP), Inc., and Ward 5 Councilmember Kenyan McDuffie, Washington Informer Publisher Denise Rolark Barnes, and other officials and activists were on hand to help them celebrate.
Celebrants were turning dirt instead of blowing out candles, as the afternoon celebration was a ceremonial groundbreaking for the RAP Inc., Calvin W. Rolark expansion center, located at 1959 4th St. NE, Washington, DC.
The Master of Ceremonies for the event was Mr. Jerry Phillips—known for his many years on NBC 4—who remarked that the authenticity of the event took him back to a feeling he “hadn’t felt since the civil rights movement.”
