Mr.
Gordon Cavanaugh retired as a long-term partner in Reno &Cavanaugh,
PLLC, a Washington, D.C. law firm that specializes in low-income
housing, administrative law, and legislation. At the firm, he
also served as General Counsel to the Council of Large Public
Housing Authorities (CLPHA) for more than 20 years.
Mr. Cavanaugh was
appointed by President Carter as Administrator, Farmers Home
Administration, USDA. He also served as chair of the Housing
Development Corporation for the City of Philadelphia, and as
the founding Executive Director of the Housing Assistance Council,
a national non-profit based in the District of Columbia. He
also oversaw the drafting of the statute DCHA now operates under,
while serving as General Counsel to the DCHA Receiver.
He was sworn in as
Commissioner by former D.C. Mayor Anthony Williams to the District
of Columbia Housing Authority Board of Commissioners in January
2006.
